Road Trip
Does anyone out there like 15 hr. one day road trips? I don't. But in order to get back to my comfortable bed at home....we had to do it. Not fun. Especially when you leave at noontime! But it was all worth it. A beautiful New England wedding at my brother's gorgeous house in the woods on a hill with the most wonderful landscaping. It was picturesque! The bride and groom so much in love and loving life....it was precious. Thank you Lord Jesus!! They will be living in Oman, South Africa. Good luck to Beth and Andy!

Blue Ridge Parkway
My husband and I just took another motorcycling trip on the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville this past weekend. What majestic mountains and valleys we have there. What an Awesome God we have! Our friends Dick and Jean have a place in Asheville and they are our cycling buddies. It was a pretty hot weekend....100 degrees in the towns, but in the mountains on the Blue Ridge it was around 80 degrees. It was very comfortable and soothing. There were all kinds of beautiful butterflies collecting their juices from all the flowers up there as well as the bees and other bugs. You can't get it all in a picture.....It's just too vast to see, but I was glad to see it in person! Trudy

Rain, Rain, Rain....we need Rain!
Prayin for rain over here in the Central Piedmont of North Carolina!....It is rumbling outside as I write and hope this whole week we can get some rain every day! I love the sound of rain as it hits the windows or the roof. The grass gets green and the flowers drink it in....I have been watering for over three weeks now and it's getting VERY OLD, not to mention, Tiring. Thank you God....for the rain that's coming. Trudy

Ant Pests!
I just got rid of another colony!!! Wow that borax and sugar got em again! I mix 1/4 cup of borax soap, 1/4 cup of white sugar and 1/4 cup of hot water and make a paste....Glob it on some business cards around the area they are traveling and Wa-La...gone until the next colony appears! I put the "potion" around my plants outside as well, the ants are very numerous this year! Good Luck with yours! Trudy

Get rid of ANTS! Naturally
Exterminate Naturally! I just use the same amount of sugar, borax soap and 2x water and stir to get RID of them! There are so many around us this year and I am STILL getting rid of these pesty creatures. In the house and out....I just put the "Potion" on a business card or piece of cardboard in the direct line of the bugs and pretty soon you will see a line of ants around the "pond" that you make on the card. It is pretty awesome...They will take the potion to the queen and all of them will DIE! You might have to do it all over again when you see another colony, but it really does work. Trudy

Garage Sale
I don't know if any of you out there are garage sale people, but, we had one and if you do not advertize, you do not get people!! DAH! Oh well, we had fun meeting a few really nice people anyway and did get rid of some junk. It's great to know you have a clean organized attic that you can appreciate when you go into it the next time and try to FIND something! Trudy

Tiffany Style Window
This week my daughter Jacqui, decided she wanted the Tiffany Style Stained Glass window in her open hallway upstairs! We have done one already for a customer, so it wasn't going to be hard making a new pattern, cutting, etc. We got started right away after she purchased the glass. It's going well! I will update in a few days! Trudy

Pruning crepe murtles
I found out this year that you DO NOT have to prune a crepe off the top!! You prune it from the bottom up and leave the leaves on top and the extra old stems. That way it grows bigger, taller and more full and it doesn't look bushy! Works for me. I pruned some more yesterday and they look fabulous! I love working in the yard in the sunshine and under God's presence!

Diggin in the dirt
Springtime! It's time to dig out those dreaded weeds! I finally had the energy to get some dandilions out of my flower bed yesterday. What a job! I am bound and determined to get the rest of it done this week. Last year it didn't get accomplished as well as I would have liked, but God has given me some extra energy and the weeds will be conquered! It also helps to have a small rototiller to get in between the plants and air out the soil. There's nothing more satisfying than a weed-free flower garden. Trudy

Attic Findings
Still working on Granny's attic. What a job! The girls and I found some Fisher Price toys from 30 years ago tucked away in an old delapidated cardboard box. All the people and parts were there, believe it or not, along with little dump trucks and traffic signs. The (still working) musical ferris wheel with wooden people was amazing to hear and see, along with the town that had car ramps and a mail car with real mail in the back. Cool. Trudy

Cleaning the Attic
It was spring cleaning and organizational time at Granny's house today. The attic was a LONG time in need of organizing. You know what they say tho, you can't get organized until you have a mess first. There is oodles to do yet, but it's started and we found many, many memories of my mother and also things I used to do (wood crafting, wreath-making, etc.)old toys, dolls, canning jars (anyone want any?)and insulation!! EVERYWHERE! More to come....Trudy

Easter
What a glorious day! First thing- worshipping at church - Thanking God for all His blessings, especially salvation! Be Happy! Second, a long beautiful ride on our motorcycle with friends to Hanging Rock State Park! Gorgeous! Couldn't have a better day. Then dinner at our son, Jeremy's house. Yummy, and I didn't have to cook! The grandkids were awesome. Went home exhausted but fulfilled and very, very, grateful for all we have. Trudy

Making house plant sticks
Our newest creation in the Glass Gallery Girls collection would be our stained glass plant sticks! We took parts of a wire hanger (as the stick) to be placed in the dirt of the plant and soldered our colorful butterflies to it. Each butterfly is an original color, wired and jeweled differently. Picture will follow, but to see our whole collection of stained glass, go to glassgallerygirls@etsy.com.

Rain, Go Away
OK. I like the rain, but right now, I've had enough of it! My daffodils are still out smiling at me though which helps a lot. Sunshine come again. Trudy

Polishing
Today I polished some of our customed alphabet letters. This is the final process of our Tiffany styled stained glass which involves a finishing compound that you wipe on and buff. It was interrupted quite frequently however by two of my rambuncious grandchildren!! They are SO precious. Trudy

Tulips
Good morning. The girls and I have been busy making our tulips and daisies in this gorgeous weather outside! Tulips originated from Holland and so did we! I was the first one born in the U.S. after my parents moved in 1955. These flowers are one of our biggest sellers....check it out on glassgallerygirls.etsy.com. Trudy

Making Daisies and Tulips
The "Girls" got together yesterday to get into the spring-time spirit! We cut out daisies and tulips in the garage while the kids played outside, (or took naps). Thought of some "new" ideas for inside flower pots....follow up with us next week! Trudy

Blindside
Those of you who haven't seen the movie "the Blindside" need to see it. Sandra Bullock is my favorite actress and she does an amazing job in this one! My husband and I went to see it at the $2.00 theater last weekend for my birthday. Awesome!!

Watched Fever Pitch..
It is almost that time again.. yup baseball season. My husband gets so excited. He has to watch every head line that talks about the Redsox. So last night, we watched Fever Pitch. It is a romantic comedy, watch it if you haven't already. My husband is not as obsessed with them as Ben (Jimmy Fallon). We don't live in a gift shop ;) But I do have to watch almost every game (baseball package). I am use to it now, we have been married for 6 years. That is why I have hobbies. While he watches the game, I sit on the coach next to him and DO SOMETHING. -Jacqui

snow day in nc
yes it is snowing again for the third or fourth time here! My brother in law (who lives in MA) said it is 56 degrees out and sunny. He couldn't believe it was warmer in the north than in the south. HAHA But it is beautiful! - Jacqui
